Programs Description

Zoey’s Place Child Advocacy Center’s work has a strong prevention focus, they deliver abuse prevention and education programs for K–12 students across Hancock County. Our prevention education teaches kids how to recognize and respond to abuse by covering topics like safe vs. unsafe touches, consent (“no means no”), identifying trusted adults, signs of abuse (beyond visible injuries), discussing hard topics/asking for help, and “no blame, no shame.” They offer Child Safety Matters and Teen Safety Matters (K–12), and can provide support with materials/handouts so schools can extend the reach of the curriculum.

Alongside prevention, Zoey’s Place provides forensic interviews. a child-friendly, private, securely recorded interview process designed to reduce the number of times a child must retell their experience and to support investigations (with access limited to key case stakeholders). We also provide advocacy through Child and Family Advocates who support the child and non-offending family members during and after the forensic interview, helping families navigate resources, case progression, and medical/mental health referrals, and serving as an ongoing point of contact.
